Sure look, I've always had a soft spot for maps. As a youngster growing up in Ireland, I'd sit poring over the old school atlas, tracing my finger along the Boyne or up the Shannon while daydreaming about places with far grander names like Tarshish and Nineveh. But it was only a few years back, when I stumbled upon a reproduction of a biblical world map, that it truly struck me how different our ancestors' view of the globe was from the satellite images we take for granted today. There they had Jerusalem at the very centre, with the world neatly divided into three vast continents, and the oceans curling around the edges like a celestial serpent.
